History of genocides in Ukraine: studying the experience and challenges of the present. Call for participants for the seminar
Since 2022, the UCHS, in cooperation and with funding from the Shoah Memorial (Paris), has been holding two-day research seminars for educators in Ukraine on topics related to the history and memory of genocides on the territory of Ukraine in the global context. The speakers at the seminar are Ukrainian and French scholars. The working language of the event is Ukrainian with simultaneous translation.

Bakhmut - the Face of the Genocide of 1942/2022" Exhibition of the National Historical Memorial Reserve “Babyn Yar”
On August 1, on the anniversary of the beginning of the Battle of Bakhmut, the exhibition “Bakhmut: Faces of Genocide 1942/2022” will open in Kyiv. The murder of 3,000 civilians, most of them Jews, in January 1942 and the destruction of Bakhmut by the Russians, which has been going on for over a year in our time, are two crimes committed by the same totalitarian Nazi regime.

During the German occupation in 1941-1944 on the territory of present-day Ukraine more than 1 million Jews and 12.000 Romani people were killed in mass shootings. They were buried in numerous mass graves.

Presentation of Robert Kuwalek’s book in Lviv

The project "Protecting Memory" (starting in Ukraine in 2010) is dedicated to the still little-known chapter of Nazi policy of extermination: it investigates mass shootings of Jews in the occupied territories of Eastern Europe, which are in the darkness of oblivion. The project, however, is dedicated to marking and protecting evidences of these crimes - the mass graves in Ukraine, which became the last resting place for more than a million Jews - making them worthy memorial places.
