Research and Methodology Seminar "The History of Genocides in Ukraine: Lessons and Contemporary Challenges"

insidethegatesIn cooperation with and with funding from the Shoah Memorial (Paris), the UCHS holds an annual research seminar for educators in Ukraine on topics related to the history and memory of genocides on the territory of Ukraine in the global context. The speakers at the seminar are Ukrainian and French scholars. The working languages of the event are Ukrainian and French with simultaneous translation.

In 2025, the seminar will be held on 27-29 June in Kyiv.

This year, the seminar is open to educators from Odesa and the region (up to 15 people) and Kyiv and the region (up to 10 people).

  • International Educational Seminar in Krakow

    On April 24-26, 2026, the first part of the international educational project The Holocaust as a Starting Point: Ukrainian-Polish Dialogue took place in Krakow. The event was organized by the Shoah Memorial  (Paris) in partnership with the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies (Kyiv) and ORE (Warsaw). Ukraine was represented by 20 history and social studies teachers from 14 regions of the country.

  • Public Discussion: “The Call: Rethinking Ukrainian Jewry”

    On April 10, 2026, a discussion was held at the Sens bookstore in Kyiv, organized by Hromadske Radio in partnership with UNESCO Ukraine. The event explored the history of Ukrainian-Jewish relations, cultural influences, shared traumas, and identity formation.
