Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies announces a 2019 educational school-seminar dedicated to the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine
Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies (UCHS) in cooperation with Yad Vashem (Jerusalem) and under the support of the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities (VAAD) of Ukraine and the Embassy of the State of Israel to Ukraine announces a call for the applications for the educational school-seminar dedicated to the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine and problems of the Holocaust teaching in the Ukrainian schools. The seminar is aimed at teachers of history and other social subjects in general secondary schools in Ukraine. During lectures, discussions, trainings and guided tours participants will learn about different aspects of the Holocaust history in Ukraine and Europe, the politics of the totalitarian regimes, the Nazi genocide of the Jewish people, Resistance movements, Ukrainian-Jewish relations in the interwar period and at the time of the Holocaust, peculiarities of the ideological Nazi antisemitism, interdisciplinary approaches to the Holocaust history, other genocides of the Second World War and contemporary times, issues of the historical memory, etc. A significant part of the seminar will be dedicated to the methodological approaches to the Holocaust teaching in school.
The seminar will take place on July 2-7, 2019 in Lutsk.

Call for Applications: International Seminar ‘The Holocaust as a Starting Point’
The Holocaust as a Starting Point (HSP) program, launched by the Mémorial de la Shoah and partners, supports Holocaust education through international teacher training. Within the “Polish-Ukrainian Dialogue,” the Polish Centre for Education Development (ORE), the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, and the Mémorial de la Shoah will host two seminars for 45 teachers from Ukraine and Poland.
