International scientific and methodological seminar “History of genocides in Ukraine: study of experience and contemporary challenges”
Dear colleagues!
We invite you to take part in the international scientific and methodological seminar “History of genocides in Ukraine: study of experience and contemporary challenges” for history teachers of secondary schools of Kyiv. The seminar is organized by the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, Mémorial de la Shoah (Paris, France) and National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War
The seminar is devoted to the study and understanding of the events of the complicated history of Ukraine in the 20th century and the modern russian aggression against our country, as well as the modern challenges in teaching the topics of genocides in view of the personal experience of surviving gained by Ukrainians in the conditions of war and genocide in the 21st century. The seminar will be held on November 11-13, 2022 in the premises of National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War. The work of the seminar will last from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in safe conditions (the Museum has an equipped shelter in case of an air alert). The participants of the seminar will receive a certificate of professional development in the amount of 15 hours (0.5 ECTS credit). International scientific and methodological seminar “History of genocides in Ukraine: study of experience and contemporary challenges”
Starting in 2022, the UCHS, in cooperation and with funding from the Shoah Memorial (Paris), has been conducting scientific seminars for educators in Ukraine on topics related to the history and memory of genocides on the territory of Ukraine in the global context. The speakers at the seminar are Ukrainian and French scholars. The working languages of the event are Ukrainian and French with simultaneous translation.

The UCHS continues to work on the creation of an online course Methodology of Teaching about the History of the Holocaust in Secondary School. The authors of this course are well-known Ukrainian history teachers, history teaching methodologists, and scholars.
