The I.B. Medvinsky Annual Competition of Students' Research and Art Works "History and Lessons of the Holocaust", the XIII round of Annual Competition of Students' Research and Art Works
On 9 - 13 May 2013 the XIII Annual Competition of Students' Research and Art Works "History and Lessons of the Holocaust" took place traditionally in Pushcha Vodytsa by Kyiv. From this year on the competition will bear the name of its founder I.B. Medvinsky.
Organized by Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, the event was generously supported by the Euroasian Jewish Congress and International Foundation "Mutual Understanding and Tolerance".
This traditional meeting was the culmination for the hard work each of the participants has completed during the year before, searching, reading, analyzing and bringing together various materials to the topic of their interest. The school students from all over Ukraine looked into histories of their hometowns, regions, fates of individual families, commemoration practices and other aspects.
For the first time the works on Nazi persecution of Roma were singled out into a separate session within the competition. They were not numerous, but raised much interest among the listeners.
