“Tolerance – Lessons of the Holocaust” Program: A Seminar in Minsk
On 27-30 October Minsk hosted a seminar on teaching about the Holocaust within the framework of a programme by Eurasian Jewish Congress “Tolerance – Lessons of the Holocaust”. Among the participants were 29 schoolteachers, museum associates, educators, college teachers from all over Belarus.
To hold this seminar EAJC partnered with Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, who provided content support for the seminar lectures and workshops. Once and again during the event the participants and seminar leaders noted the necessity to combat xenophobia, antisemitism, racism and other forms of hatred through educating tolerance with children and teenagers. History of the Holocaust and tragedies of other victims of Nazism and Stalinism served as an example of where stereotypes and prejudice might lead under certain conditions.
