Holocaust Remembrance in the Ukrainian Regions
Interview with Olha Limonova, coordinator of the UCHS Formal Education Department, on Hromadske Radio about the problems and changes in Holocaust Remembrance.
‘Of course, in modern times (especially after the Revolution of Dignity), there has been a complete rethinking of the multinationality of our state. Previously, the segregation of the Holocaust as Jewish history and the Holodomor or other aspects of it as Ukrainian history was very clearly felt. Now, thanks God, we can state that this is almost gone. And more and more educators and public figures understand and realise that this is our common history, that we cannot separate the history of Ukrainian Jews from the history of Ukrainians, that this is a common history, a common pain, common lessons, common topics for rethinking. This is also evident in the commemoration.’ - Olha Limonova
