Seminar-presentation of an online tool against discrimination “Stories that Move”
On the 21 and 22 of August 2019 a two-day seminar-presentation of an online tool against discrimination “Stories that Move” took place in Sumy.
School teachers of history, languages, information technology, as well as school psychologists participated in the seminar. Together with trainers they learned about the platform and its’ possibilities; blended learning approach; visible thinking routine; safe space technique.
Some sessions were directly dedicated to work with training modules. Additionally, participants attended lectures on discrimination in various countries and ages as well as on usage of propaganda and its influence on historical and modern examples. Teachers shared their impressions from the platform, possibilities of raising a question of discrimination, identity and campaigns to combat xenophobia in the school environment. Furthermore, participants discussed ways to use the platform on the lessons of history, languages, civic education, law, information technology, etc.
The Project in Ukraine is run by the NGO Kyiv EC "TolerSpace" facilitated by the Anne Frank House (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), partnership with the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies and financial support from the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future http://www.stiftung-evz.de/eng/the-foundation.html).
The partner of the seminar in Sumy was the Sumy Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education.
