Anna Frank – a History for Today in Kirovograd
The well-known exhibition “Anna Frank – a History for Today” continues its journey around Ukraine. Just now the project has come to an end in Kirovograd – the city with numerous signs of former flamboyant Jewish life. Before the revolution Yelisavetgrad was one of the largest industrial centres within the so-called “boundary of settlement”. That is why the Jewish community had many businessmen, doctors, lawyers, merchants and other wealthy people willing to make the city life comfortable, cozy, and beautiful. The magnificent brick architecture of Kirovograd streets feeds the eye. Buildings of the Jewish hospital, almshouse, and, of course, the synagogue decorate the city. It was on the synagogue premises where the exhibition took place. 17 pupils-guides gave a lot of excursions for over 2000 people – it was a success. The excursions had a lasting effect on visitors.
