The “Remembrance in Dialogue” Educational Project for Ukrainian Teachers

insidethegatesOn 19 November 2025, within the framework of the Remembrance in Dialogue project organized by Insha Osvita and Austausch, a workshop was held for school history teachers dedicated to researching and teaching local Holocaust histories. The project focuses on preserving the memory of the Holocaust during Russia’s war against Ukraine.

As part of the project, Ukrainian, Polish, and German teams spent six months studying together through lectures and a study visit to Ivano-Frankivsk, and are now sharing their knowledge with teaching communities in their respective countries. The workshop addressed teaching methodologies and approaches to the topic in wartime conditions.

The participants heard presentations from Dr. Nataliia Lazar (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington, D.C.) on Teaching the History of the Holocaust through Primary Sources and Testimonies: Pedagogical Practices and Recommendations of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and from Dr. Anatolii Podolskyi on Teaching the History of the Holocaust During Wartime: Methods and Methodologies.
