Virtual exhibition «Babyn Yar: Memory against History’s Background»
From now on, the website of the Public Committee for commemorating of Babyn Yar victims offers the virtual exhibition «Babyn Yar: Memory against History’s Background». The virtual exhibition is created based on the materials of the multimedia exhibition, which was conducted in the Kyiv History Museum from September 15 to November 27, 2016, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy. The exhibition is available in Ukrainian and in English, is completely interactive, and is supplemented with a video guide in Ukrainian.
The project was implemented by the Kyiv History Museum and the Public Committee «Babyn Yar», with support from the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance and the Canadian Charity “Ukrainian Jewish Encounter Initiative”.
This exhibition includes materials from the collections of the All-Ukrainian Jewish Council and of the Museum «Heroism and Holocaust», the Central State CinePhotoPhono Archives of Ukraine named after H. Pshenychnyi, the Ukrainian National Information Agency «Ukrinform», the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, the NaUKMA Center for Studies of History and Culture of East European Jewry, the Departmental State Archives of the Security Service of Ukraine, Oleh Olzhych Foundation, and from private collections.
The author and curator of the project is Vitaliy Nakhmanovych, leading researcher of the Kyiv History Museum, executive secretary of the Public Committee «Babyn Yar».
