VIII Annual All-Ukrainian Competition of Pupils' Research and Art Works "History and Lessons of the Holocaust"
The VIII Annual All-Ukrainian Competition of Pupils' Research and Art Works housed by Mayak sanatorium near Kyiv was organized by Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, Vaad of Ukraine and Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. Out of over 50 applications 33 works were recommended for presentation by the jury members, who evaluated all the works on 7 parameters. Except for the pupils' presentations the programme of the seminar included a workshop on preparing a research work, trainings on stereotypes and prejudice, round table discussions.
This years' works concentrated mostly around regional peculiarities of the Holocaust, the issues of choice and the Righteous among the Nations. The prize places were divided as follows.
1st prize was taken by Maria Avramishina (Kremenets) "The Holocaust in Kremenets Region. Funds of Kremenets Area Museum and Witness' Statements" and Anastasiya Desyatova "Specificities of the Holocaust in Mykolayiv Region". 2nd prize was given to Vera Pishchenko "Officially Unrecognized Righteous. A. Sheptytskyi and the Holocaust" and Maria Milman (Kyiv) "The Righteous Among the Nations. Main Socio-Psychological Aspects".
3rd place was divided between Anna Karpovskaya (Dneprodzerzhinsk) "The Role of Shuhevych and Nachtigall Batallion in the Extermination of Jews in World War Two" and Tatyana Bilous "The Tragedy of Chernivtsi Jews". We also want to express our special thanks to academic tutors of the presenters. It was them who with inspiration and devotion guided the children through this uneasy topic.

Research Team Meeting for the Project “One Stone - One Life: 80 Stumbling Stones for Kyiv”
On 13 December 2025, the first in‑person meeting of school research teams took place in Kyiv. These teams are currently studying the biographies for new Stumbling Stones. Five teams from Kyiv and one from Odesa - history teachers working together with their students - are each conducting their own research.
