Ukrainian society and the memory of the Holocaust: experience of modern war against Ukraine
On January 27, 2023, on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the 16th round table "Ukrainian society and the memory of the Holocaust: the experience of modern war against Ukraine" will be held in the premises of the Kuras Institute of Political and Ethnic Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
This year's round table will take place in the conditions of a full-scale war unleashed against our country. Therefore, the emphasis of all reports and discussions is dictated by time and objective circumstances. The focus, as always, is on commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and combating any kind of discrimination. Leading scientists, educators, public figures and officials are traditionally invited to participate.
The organizers of the 16th round table are the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, the Goethe Institut in Ukraine with the support of the project of the Dusseldorf Jewish Community "Learning to remember". We recall that in 2005, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution No. 60/7, in which it declared January 27 the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The resolution emphasizes the importance of education and awareness-raising in order to learn the lessons of the Holocaust and prevent future manifestations of hatred, bigotry, racism and prejudice.
