International Educational Seminar in Krakow

insidethegatesOn April 24-26, 2026, the first part of the international educational project The Holocaust as a Starting Point: Ukrainian-Polish Dialogue took place in Krakow. The event was organized by the Shoah Memorial  (Paris) in partnership with the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies (Kyiv) and ORE (Warsaw). Ukraine was represented by 20 history and social studies teachers from 14 regions of the country.

Teachers who have recently begun teaching about the Holocaust received both a theoretical foundation (European and national contexts) and practical tools for working with students of different age groups.

The seminar was held in a friendly atmosphere, with such productive cooperation that the language barrier was hardly felt. Ukrainian and Polish educators concluded that there is far more that unites their work than divides it.

The second part of the project will take place in October 2026 in Przemyśl.

“Leaving the room after discussing such difficult topics, you feel a special responsibility. We are the ones who carry this torch of memory forward. I thank my colleagues for the meaningful discussion and the chance to reflect once again on the value of human life. As long as we remember - we remain human,” said Olena Kolos-Mahilina, project participant.
