"Hide-and-seek with death" play about the Holocaust premieres in Chernivtsi

insidethegatesOn 11 April 2025, the Hryhorii Aheiev Folk Drama Theatre and the Bu-Bu-Bu Children's Theatre Studio premiered a performance in Chernivtsi based on the graphic novel Hide and Seek with DeathChildren Stories about Non-Children History, written by the team of authors: Anna Yamchuk, Mykola Kushnir, Anna Tarnovetska and Nataliia Gerasym.

The play is based on the true stories of four Holocaust survivors who lived through the horrors of World War II as children in Chernivtsi.
Before the screening, director Ivan Danilin stated:
 "We dedicate this play to all Jewish children who suffered during the Second World War in Bukovyna. And to all Ukrainian children who have been killed, maimed, abducted, or orphaned as a result of the ongoing genocidal war against our country."
This event was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Chernivtsi Museum of the History of Jews in Bukovyna and the Düsseldorf Jewish community.

    On 26-28 September 2025, a methodological seminar entitled How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren was held in Kyiv. Educators from nine regions of Ukraine gathered to learn, exchange experiences and seek answers to difficult questions. The seminar participants had already successfully completed the online course How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren, which began on 10 June 2025, and now had the opportunity to continue their training in the format of direct professional communication.
