On Guard of Saint Sophia. Exhibition project

Starting 18 September 2024, the Kyiv History Museum invites you to visit the large-scale multimedia exhibition project On Guard of Saint Sophia. This unique exhibition demonstrates the modern Russian-Ukrainian war as a result of the centuries-long confrontation between two civilisations with their completely opposite values.

The exhibition is based on global antitheses that clearly symbolises the main message of the project: light and darkness, peaceful state-building and imperial ideology, the defence of one's own land and invasive campaigns, heroism and the vileness of war crimes, humanism and cruelty...

The project consists of three thematic spaces that explore Ukrainian and russian civilisations, as well as the events of Kyiv's defence in 2022. The exhibition encourages everyone to understand what Ukraine fights for and what Russia fights for.
