European Holocaust Studies: Modern Dimensions and Research Prospects. International Conference
On 12 November 2024, the Institute of World History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine hosted an international scientific conference entitled European Research Discourse on the Holocaust: Modern Dimensions and Research Prospects. The conference discussed current issues of Holocaust studies in Ukraine and the world, the theoretical foundations of modern scientific discourse on the Holocaust.
The conference was attended by well-known national and foreign experts from Kyiv, Krakow, Dnipro, Rivne, and the Ukrainian representative office of the Canadian non-governmental organisation Ukrainian Jewish Encounter.
Anatolii Podolskyi, Head of the UCHS, delivered a report titled Holocaust Studies in Ukraine from the Perspective of Contemporary European Historiography. He analyzed the evolution of Holocaust studies in Ukraine, highlighting the formation of a scientific research school and the significant growth in regional studies, the Resistance movement, survival strategies, and Holocaust remembrance over the past decade.
Other notable speakers included Vasyl Tkachenko, Serhii Stelmakh, Andrii Kudriachenko, Oleksandr Potekhin, and Liudmyla Chekalenko, representing various prestigious institutions.
