International Forum in Berlin in Support of Ukraine

insidethegatesOn February 23, 2026, Berlin hosted the international forum Café Kyiv on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Held under the motto “Freedom Must Win,” the event was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) with international partners to support Ukraine and projects in culture, science, education, and civil society.

This year, about 5,000 participants joined panel discussions, making Café Kyiv a key Ukrainian event in Europe and a unique platform for dialogue and solidarity.

Opening the forum, KAS Chairwoman Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stressed that Europe’s and Ukraine’s futures are inseparably linked. Merz noted: "Russia shows no readiness for peace. This war will end only when russia can no longer finance it. We must help Ukraine achieve a lasting and just peace.”

Panel “Paths of Memory: Ukraine and the Weimar Triangle”

Organized by the Jewish Community of Düsseldorf with support from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, the panel featured Anatolii Podolskyi, Director of the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies. He presented Ukraine’s experience in teaching Holocaust history, countering antisemitism, and challenged Kremlin narratives justifying aggression.
