From 12 to 17 October 2025, Lviv and Lublin hosted the 14th Robert Kuvalek Seminar, “The History of the Holocaust in Western Ukraine and Eastern Poland.”

The event was attended by experienced history teachers - graduates of UCHS educational programs. The project was held with the assistance of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germans and with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Finance.

Over five days, participants explored approaches to teaching Holocaust history and commemorative practices in Ukraine and Poland. A central component was an educational visit to memorials at the sites of the Majdanek, Bełżec, and Sobibór death camps, where they exchanged insights with Polish colleagues from the memorials’ educational departments.

The journey was emotionally resonant and methodologically rich, offering tools for teaching difficult history with sensitivity, relevance, and care. The experience is already inspiring new educational initiatives.
