International Scientific-Practical Conference “Unity in Diversity: The Historical, Socio-Cultural and Geopolitical Dimension of the EU’s Core Idea for Ukraine”

insidethegatesOn May 14-15, 2026, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University hosted the International Scientific-Practical Conference Unity in Diversity: The Historical, Socio-Cultural and Geopolitical Dimension of the EU’s Core Idea for Ukraine. The event was held within the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module project European Multiculturalism as an Experience and a Path for Ukraine’s European Integration with financial support from the European Union.

Ukrainian and international historians, philosophers, and political scientists took part. Anatolii Podolskyi, Director of the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies and member of the organizing committee, presented on Holocaust studies and Jewish history in Ukraine, noting that even during Russia’s war against Ukraine, Jewish studies remain an integral part of research on Ukraine’s multicultural society.

Conference discussions focused on three dimensions of Unity in Diversity:

  • - Historical - European lessons for overcoming divisions and shaping identity.
  • - Socio-cultural - diversity as a resource and challenge for Ukraine’s path to the EU.
  • - Geopolitical - the strategic role of the idea in Ukraine’s foreign policy and integration.
