International Conference on Holocaust Distortion and Education: Current and Emerging Challenges. National Measures in Place
On 28-29 October 2024, the International Conference Distortion and Education: Current and Emerging Challenges. National Measures in Place. The conference was organised by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), in consultation with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
Ukraine was represented at this conference by the head of the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies, Anatolii Podolskyi. He focused on presenting the Ukrainian national experience in Holocaust studies and countering anti-Semitism and refuting the manipulative narratives of the Russian Federation to justify aggression against Ukraine.
The conference aimed to raise awareness of the possibilities of technology, including the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and to explore competing and contradictory historical narratives. Also speakers from different countries focused on the realities of teaching the Holocaust in the current context, with a focus on the impact of the Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians on 7 October 2023 and the subsequent war between Israel and Hamas.

Seminar ‘How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren’
On 26-28 September 2025, a methodological seminar entitled How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren was held in Kyiv. Educators from nine regions of Ukraine gathered to learn, exchange experiences and seek answers to difficult questions. The seminar participants had already successfully completed the online course How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren, which began on 10 June 2025, and now had the opportunity to continue their training in the format of direct professional communication.
