International meeting of educators ‘Rethinking Holocaust Education’

insidethegatesOn 7-10 September 2025, the international hackathon Rethinking Holocaust Education was held in Oświęcim (Poland), organised by the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum in Israel.

Olha Limonova, coordinator of formal education at the Ukrainian Centre for Holocaust Studies, represented Ukraine at the event. Over the course of three days, nine teams from 16 countries worked on issues related to Holocaust education in the context of contemporary challenges and the wave of anti-Semitism that has risen around the world since the start of Israel's operation against Hamas in Gaza.

The hackathon is part of an annual project to create methodological materials for teachers working on the topic of the Holocaust.

  • Seminar ‘How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren’

    On 26-28 September 2025, a methodological seminar entitled How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren was held in Kyiv. Educators from nine regions of Ukraine gathered to learn, exchange experiences and seek answers to difficult questions. The seminar participants had already successfully completed the online course How to Talk About the Holocaust with Schoolchildren, which began on 10 June 2025, and now had the opportunity to continue their training in the format of direct professional communication.
